Meet the America's Horse In Art artist.

text size

Texas artist Lauren Herr has an affinity for animals evident in the way she is able to depict the subtle nuances of expression, especially in the eyes. Through the velvety texture of soft pastels, she not only creates an accurate rendition of her subjects, but also captures their very essence. Horses have always held a special place in her heart. This kinship, exemplified in many of her paintings, has the goal of allowing others to experience the quiet beauty, nobility and gentleness of these magnificent animals.

She has exhibited her work at several well-known outdoor Texas art festivals, including Main Street in Fort Worth, The Bayou City Art Festival in Houston, and the Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson.

Although largely self-taught, Lauren did spend a year in the fine arts program at the University of Texas before transferring to Texas A&M University, graduating with a degree in Anthropology. She currently lives on a ranch in south Texas with her four horses and a menagerie of other animals.
